DONG Energy has chosen to implement the marine management software solution from SeaRoc Group for a centralized hub in its offshore wind farm in the UK.

Specifically, SeaRoc stated that its software, called SeaPlanner, will be utilized for the Marine and Helicopter Coordination Center to standardize, centralize, standardize, and automate equipment to easily support DONG Energy’s offshore projects that are located farther away from the coast.

The SeaPlanner software was selected after a detailed tender process. Commenting on what it can do for DONG Energy’s operations, SeaRoc head of operations Nick Murphy stated:

“Giving the DONG Energy project team the ability to manage multiple sites from a centralized system not only saves a considerable amount of administration time and costs, but it also provides an enhanced level of control and brings project standardization across projects.”

Moreover, the software will be used to deploy a number of unmanned communications containers that will carry the equipment required for running the offshore wind farm. These pieces include antennae, vessel tracking devices, VHF marine radios, and helicopter tracking systems, among others.
